AECOM: It is highly necessary to develop a network of highways

Aecom Ingenieria, a subsidiary of the American group Aecom and the local design market leader, with a turnover of 11.4 million EUR recorded in 2013, was involved in the development of large-scale public investments, such as the designing of the highways Orăştie-Sibiu (batch 1 and 2), Lugoj-Deva (batch 1 and 2) and Timişoara-Lugoj (second batch). Furthermore, since 2013, Aecom is working on the rehabilitation of the aircraft stationary platforms for the International Airport "Mihail Kogălniceanu" (Constanţa) as well as for the new PUG of the capital city, which will be completed in 2015. The US firm Aecom is present in Romania since 2002, having over 160 employees. In 2009, the company acquired the local firm Savant Project, and in 2010 took over the assets from our country of the Spanish engineering group Inocsa. At group level, Aecom has 45.000 employees and is included among the top 500 largest companies in the world, according to Fortune magazine. During the financial year 2013, the corporation reported revenues of 8.21 billion USD (+1%). The latest road infrastructure project contracted by Aecom Ingenieria targets the designing of the second batch of the highway Timişoara - Lugoj, with a length of 25.6 km, worth 423.3 million RON (VAT not included). This section will connect Timişoara freeway with batch 1 of Lugoj - Deva highway and will have two lanes in each direction, the platform width of 26 meters, 12 bridges, 20 passages and two intersections (at km 54 - connection with DN 6 and at km 73 +600 - connection with DJ 572). The construction works started recently, being carried out by the association Tirrena Scavi SpA - Societá Italiana per Condotte D'Acqua SpA. In what concerns the second batch of Lugoj - Deva, the highway works have not yet been initiated, according to a recent statement of the Minister Dan Şova, but can start at any time. The execution contract, worth 126.4 million EUR, has been awarded to the Italian association Salini - Secol. The section has a length of 28.6 km and includes 10 passages and 6 bridges. Aecom also designed the sections of highway Orăştie - Sibiu (batch 1 and 2), which was opened for traffic in December 2013.
