T & C: The market is moving towards high performance technologies

The field of thermo-insulating joinery is continuously characterized by a particular dynamics in the pace of research and development. In the same time, large companies in the industry run ambitious investment programs because this represents a mandatory condition in order to meet the main objective of marketing: customer orientation. For this reason, the market is permanently flooded by new solutions that seek to address current demands in terms of better energy efficiency, sustainability, etc. This trend is also observed in the most important specialized exhibitions, where organizers are trying to promote systems that optimally meet the requirements specified in the international regulations. It is expected that, in the future, the competition for offering high technology products will increase, so that the proposed performance objectives for this decade might be successfully achieved. A good example is the inauguration of a new production line for laminated glass at the industrial park owned by Saint-Gobain Glass Romania in Calarasi. This is the third component of the operations performed on the local level, after the fabrication of float glass and the manufacturing of special varieties produced through magnetron equipment. The capacity of the new plant is around two million square meters, of which, according to company officials, approximately 50% will be exported to neighboring regions (Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Moldova, Greece etc.). The investment totaled 6 million EUR. The specialized equipments has a processing capacity of 2,500 square meters at every four hours, the level of productivity providing a coverage of the current demand under optimal conditions. In addition, in order to increase the quality of service operations offered to local partners, the company provides cutting services for laminated products. Lionet Jerome - general manager of SGGR, said that "80% out of the new types of glass will be sold on the residential market, the majority (about two thirds) being allocated to the thermal rehabilitation actions."
