ANALYSIS: Sales increase on roller shutters segment during the summer

The sunshades systems market is strongly influenced by the seasonal factors and began to take advantages on the effects induced by the growth in construction observed in the first part of this year. Although the restructuring of this area continue at a low pace similar to that observed for producers of windows, the fact that the local supplies become significant especially in the summer determines an improvement of the number of the companies in the field (including thermal insulating joinery manufacturers which produce also shutters, blinds, etc.), working in cost-effectively conditions. This situation could be considered paradoxical, given the reduced dimensions of the analyzed market. Because of the properties of enhancing comfort and privacy, improving solar radiation control and, in many cases, increasing the noise insulation, shading elements may be marketed only when the local beneficiaries are truly convinced of the real benefits provided by this option, choosing to use it instead of the change of existing insulating glass units (IGU) with reflective, solar control or mirror models, which have similar functions. Consequently, on the domestic market of shading systems, which is strongly dependent on the purchasing power of the population, despite the upward trend noted within October 2014 - July 2015, the demand continues to be polarized between purchase products with outstanding performance and attractive design and installation of shutters and blinds in the entry-level category, with low prices and quality to match. A more accurate image on the current situation and prospects of companies in the industry is available through a new research conducted last year, by the specialized department of Fereastra magazine, focusing on the main companies involved in the field of shading systems. The results in the period 2008- 2014 have been updated and the list includes the most significant system providers (517 companies), respectively 907 windows producers. The list contains also 41 companies specialized in the production and/or sale of curtain walls and other devices in the sunshades category.
